Frozen Assets II Breaks World Record!

Imagine going over 190 miles p/hr (305km p/hr) with no roll cage around you.

It may sounds like fun for some, scary for others. One thing is for sure however: very few people get to experience doing this speed on ice!

We can only imagine what it must have felt like for Flyin Ryan Ensor when he broke the 1000ft Snowmobile Speed Run World Record this past Winter in Wisconsin, USA.

The record breaking sled, Frozen Assets II, is owned by the Warning Family of Illinois USA and is no stranger to the limelight or race wins. With a whopping 720 horsepower, 1176cc 2cyl Turbo engine, this thing is FAST.

To break the world record this season, Frozen Assets II clocked an incredible 194.38 miles p/hr.

The build is a 2018 custom Hypersports HRC-2 designed and engineered in-house at Hypersports. The sled uses a Link Fury ECU to control absolutely every function, tuned in house by Mr Glen Hall.

A Link 6.5 BAR MAP sensor, Link fuel and oil sensors and Link air temp sensors also ensure that the high-horsepower engine is running optimally.

The package proves to be a huge success, and a massive ‘Congratulations’ is well deserved to everyone involved in this achievement!

Link ECU are proud to be Hypersports #1 choice in Engine Management.

Link ECU Build of the Week #2 – Tommi Makinen EVO6

When Lee Egan imported an immaculate Tommi Makinen Mitsubishi EVO VI from Japan to the UK in 2003, it would be fair to say he had secured his dream car.

The Class A import is of one of just 2500 special edition EVO 6’s Mitsubishi produced to commemorate Makinen’s four WRC Championships.

Boasting great power, quick steering and an impressive turbo charging system, the car was a treat on the road as Lee used it as a Daily Driver for many years. He didn’t hesitate to take it to the track either, putting his foot down at many track days across the UK.

Over the years, Lee has made many modifications to the car to further improve its performance; and appearance. These have been done to great effect, with the car being a real attention grabber at events. So much so, that it is now semi-retired from street use and kept for special car events, shows and charity track events. You may have seen it on the Link ECU Stand at Castle Combe in the past. If not, British fans should be able to see it up close, and out on the race track, at one of the Castle Combe Days later this year!

Of course, the upgrade list to this machine includes a Link ECU, plus a lengthy list of engine mods to the forged 2.2litre stroker engine. It now features a GT3076 full race turbo kit, Magnus inlet & RC1000cc injectors.

Other modifications include a custom 3” exhaust, TEIN electronic adjustable suspension and a rear custom diffuser.

Link Engine Management have three PlugIn ECUs for the EVO’s. By using the Link EVO8+, Lee could gain more potential out of his engine while also ensuring longevity with the Link ECU safety features. A knock sensor is installed into the car with warning signals set up within PC Link, so Lee knows if any excess detonation is occurring in the engine.

Designed as a rally car, there are a few motorsport features essential with the EVO VI. These include anti-lag, launch control and ‘pops and bangs on request’ (Lee’s words!)

Tuners, John at FCM Motorsport & Grant at Performance Engine Solutions, have ensured that high and low boost options are available at the flick of a switch in the cockpit.

The total power output of this package is particularly impressive, with 480ft lbs torque and 603bhp (400bhp at low boost).

Thanks for sharing your Pride and Joy with us, Lee!

Dealer Support During the COVID-19 Crisis

Link ECU Dealers are experts in horsepower.

We pride ourselves on our solid Dealer network who supply Link ECUs and accessories to over 65 countries around the world, most of whom are facing a tough time in terms of public and economic health at the moment.

Our Dealers remain at the forefront of our attention during this Global Pandemic. We are taking all measures possible to ensure those still active in business can order and receive Link ECU product, while sticking to Public Health guidelines to keep everyone safe.

Link has distribution warehouses in multiple locations across the world which allow us to continue servicing orders. Although there may be delays, we are confident we can get Dealers the product, and support, they need.

The Global situation is changing rapidly and not every country is the same. Link empathises with those going through a rough time. For others, we hope the break from Business as Usual may give you the chance to catch up on unfinished projects in the garage, or brush up on some new wiring techniques!

One thing remains certain: We are here at your disposal.

Link Engine Management staff continue to work remotely all over the world. You can contact your Sales Representative here, or use the email addresses located below. We would love to hear from you, whether you have any queries or just want to stay in touch.

Additionally, feel free to send through any details of projects you have been a part of , that we can feature on our social media channels. Our forums are also a great place to find more information about Link ECUs and even help other users get the most out of their units.

We do hope you keep in touch *virtually* and stay safe out there!

If you are not a Link ECU Dealer, you can:

a) Contact a Dealer to purchase product.

The easiest way to find a Dealer is via our Dealer Map. Select your country from the drop-down list, and then type in your postcode to see if there is a Dealer near you. Please be aware that Government restrictions in various countries are currently preventing some workshops to remain open. This is not consistent across the world, and many Dealers do remain OPEN.

b) Apply to Become a Dealer

Nissan R32 – Link ECU Build of the Week

Custom Importz R32 Street Car

Here at Link ECU, we are privileged to see some truly spectacular vehicles showcasing our product. We thought it is about time we took a more regular, in-depth look at these Fruits of Labour from across the world and share them with you. Given the global crisis that is occurring at the moment, more people must be at home and we couldn’t think of a more timely occasion to share our very first “Link ECU Build of the Week”.

This week’s build Owner, Kahli, is a female Mechanic and owns Cuztom Imports / CI Performance Parts store with her husband Tom Bell in Adelaide, Australia. Kahli’s prized possession (other than her children!) is this 1989 Nissan Skyline R32.

The R32 is used for Drift and Street purposes, along with Show’n’shine style events such as the World Time Attack Hardpark where this completed project was actually revealed last year. The next event on the schedule for “KUSHI” will be Powercruise Australia -when public events are permitted again, thanks COVID-19.

Kahli purchased the car as a stock R32 with an horrid bomex front bar. It wasn’t long before the complete vehicle was stripped to a bare shell for sand blasting before starting the project. A complete custom Motorsport rewire was one of the early tasks; not one of the original wires still exists. Naturally, as a Link ECU Dealer and Tuner, the team chose the best ECU possible in the Link G4+ Thunder. More than capable for the job!

The Thunder ECU takes care of the engine, closely monitoring all parameters given the modifications which have been undertaken. The list is extensive, take a look:

P Genuine BeeR conversion kit

Rb26 rwd conversion running rb26 running gear

Nismo pro 2 way diff

Complete nitto built engine

Gtx3582R Gen 2 turbo

Hypertune intake manifold and exhaust manifold

BPP billet fuel rail and R35 coilpack conversion

Vulcan custom made stainless steel exhaust

Speedflow fittings all round

Bosch motorsport electric throttle body and 3x 540 fuel pumps

18×12+0 rear wheels

18×10-1 front wheels

Cusco Coilovers S15 interior conversion

LINK Thunder ECU

AIM dash

3D racing solutions dash holder

The outcome is a reliable, driveable car that really looks the part! Under the hood is one tidy engine bay.

Kahli’s favourite part? “The Link G4+ Thunder enables all my safely for the engine, controls my AiM dash, along with the boost controller, wideband and electric throttle body.” Her ECU is even signed by some famous Drivers at WTAC’19 and now sits pride of place up the front of the car.

Tuned by Custom Importz themselves, the car is still currently on a run in tune. Tom estimates circa 600hp for the final power output. We can’t wait to see the dyno video pop up on Social Media soon!

Do you have a vehicle you wish to be featured as a “Link ECU Build of the Week”? Contact us via our Link ECU Facebook or Instagram Pages to find out how!

COVID-19 – Link Company Status

In light of the global pandemic that is COVID-19, Link Engine Management sends Best Wishes to Families, Businesses and Countries heavily affected by the virus.

We wish to advise you all of some small changes to our business practise throughout this uncertain time.

Most importantly, we are still open for business! Please do not hesitate to contact us if you are a registered Dealer and wish to place an order. Products will still be dispatched from our Distribution Warehouses as per usual, there are no major disruptions to our freight arrangements as of yet.

Our Global Technical Support Team are also still available to answer any queries from Product Users. Tech Support is reachable via email, phone or the Forums: www.linkecu.com/contact

While Link Staff will not be travelling internationally for the foreseeable future, and face-to-face Dealer visits will be limited, we are still here at the computer or end of the phone line to help answer your queries or assist you.

Link is sad to see that many Motorsport events have been cancelled or postponed, but it is clear that Public Health must come first. We wish all our Sponsored Drivers and Event Partners the very best in making the most of this situation. We hope it may give some Car Enthusiasts the chance to finish “that project” in their Garage!

Link Engine Management will keep you posted of any changes over the coming weeks and months.

Fingers crossed we will get to see our Valued Customers, Product Users, Driver’s and Fans at a Formula Drift, Drift Masters Grand Prix or other local event further along in 2020.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

LINK Thunder ECU

While business is tough at the moment, we understand this and are still willing to take on new Dealers. Perhaps your country is not hugely affected by the COVID-19 virus, or has it under control. Or perhaps you are planning for when things get better, and keen to take on a new product.

Our biggest prerequisite around becoming a Link ECU Dealer is that you have a Dyno (or exclusive access to a Dyno tuning facility) or you are a wiring specialist.

If this sounds like you, have a look here.

Take care everyone from the team at Link ECU!
