Mitch Vickery Superstock Speedway Success
One of the biggest spectator motorsports in Australia and New Zealand, Speedway is exciting, action-packed and LOUD.
Who doesn’t love the sound of a V8 engine roar?
The 2018/19 Speedway Season has now wrapped up for another year in the Southern Hemisphere and we were pleased to see the success of Link ECU sponsored Superstock Racer Mitch Vickery.
Taranaki (New Zealand) based Mitch had a great season, competing in over 35 races from November – April! His National Superstock Championship campaign was put to an early end when he narrowly missed out on qualifying after a bad run on the first night of the event. Mitch had fellow Link ECU sponsored Stockcar driver Tony Gallacher (Rotorua, New Zealand based) running his pit crew at the event which was a great opportunity to catch up with them both.
Before reading on, watch Mitch and fellow Link ECU Sponsored drivers Damien Orr and Tony Gallacher talk about Superstock racing here:
Redemption was found at the North Island Championship where Mitch managed to secure 4th equal, only just shy of the podium.
Other Highlights this season included the NZ Teams Champs, World 240s in Rotorua, Baypark Superstock rumble, winning the Garry Adamson Memorial Stirrers trophy 3 years running as well as the opportunity to compete in the Taranaki Sprintcar Champs.
To top it all off, the team was awarded the Best Presented Superstocks trophy for 2018/19 at the Stratford Speedway Prizegiving! A true testament to all the hard yards put in by the whole team. Hours of hard work were put in over the off-season and the way car turned out proves that. Mitch was quick to credit VL Design, Attraction Sign & Design and Steven Sole Customs for their contribution.
The 1UZFE is controlled by a Link G4+ Storm ECU; a popular choice in the speedway paddock.
Congratulations to Mitch and his hardworking team for a great season.
We all look forward to seeing the Superstock machine progress further over the off-season.
