Why choose Link?
There are a variety of Engine Management Systems on the market that you are probably looking at now. How does one decide? Hopefully this page will be of some help.
- Product reputation
- Features
- Specification
- Presentation
- Final purchase price
- Support, both from manufacturer and dealer
- Ease of installation (affects the installed price)
- Instruction manual quality
- Ease of tuning (affects the installed price)
- PC Tuning software (quality, flexibility, speed, functionality, ease of use etc.)
Any decision will involve applying the criteria above to the systems that you are evaluating
It is interesting to note that there is less to differentiate the leading management systems than people think. Similarities include; VE tables instead of "milliseconds", firmware upgrades in the field (you can update the software from the web (free for Link)); similar microprocessors (the same hardware is available to all manufacturers); on board data logging, etc
Where available we recommend plug-in systems over the additional cost of wiring a system. Most common applications require the use of a wire-in computer. Make sure that the wiring loom is included in the price. Different systems ship with different amounts of hardware. Consider ambient air temp sensors, igniters, idle speed solenoids, boost control solenoids etc. See Installation Accessories.
