RIPS FED wins 3rd round and claims track records
Another great days racing at Taupo although VERY hot and we had to deal with the usual altitude related issues.
Everyone was down on power and the ETs / MPH reflected that. We were all at the same track on the same day, so it was all about tuning to the conditions and through the data logging on the Link G4 Xtreme it was very interesting what we learnt about trying to use hot thin air in a turbo application.
We qualified 2nd but we all agreed we weren't going to be bettering our PB of 7.14 so decided to keep it safe and go for the win. We came up with a nice 7.40 DYO tune and ran 7.42 @ 173mph and a 7.40 @ 172.31 followed by a final run of 7.45 @ 173.10mph to secure the win for the 3rd round of the IHRA track series.
With our 7.40 @ 172.31 and the back up of 7.42 @ 173mph we were able to break the Taupo track record for CC/D which stood at 7.79 @ 171mph so that brings our total to 5 current NZ records.
We will now have a substantial lead in the IHRA track series so the finals should be a formality to secure the championship series win.
Once again big thanks go out to Jason, Spook, Brad, Link Engine Management, Rotorua Steel Structures, Turbosmart, Ross Dampers, Regal Automotive and all my other sponsers and supporters.
Our next meeting is in 2 weeks at Meremere where we intend to secure the win in the NZDRA Championship series that we currently lead.
Regards
Robbie Ward
