G3 lem gp pressure input

Posted by Tim Ward at November 30. 2011

Hello, I am trying to set up a low oil pressure  warning using the analogue volt input. I have a 0-5 volt pressure sensor. I cannot seem to get the gp pressure setting to show in the run time values. If I select 0-5 volt it works perfectly, the pyro setting does not seem to work either. Can anybody help with this? Thanks in advance.

PS.

I am running firmware 1.9.1 on the g3 lem.

Kind regards

Tim

Hi Tim.

I have a funny feeling this is quite normal.  I do not think it was different in the later release but you could always try (v1.9.2).  One option may be upgrading to G4 firmware as I know GP Pressure works on that in Kpa.

Thanks for the reply, I had made a mistake in saying I was on firmware 1.9.1, I am on the latest 1.9.2 firmware. When you say this is normal, do you mean that it just doesnt work? Would this not be a very common thing for people to want to do? The option is there in the menu, but it just doesnt work. Also the firmware update info states that this will be an option from aproximately firmware version 1.8.0 on. I also tried loading maps from the version g2 ecu and the g3 link plus, and they both work. I dont realy want to upgrade to the g4 software, for two reasons, firstly the cost, I have already spent alot of money purchacing this ecu new from link, and I have heard that upgrading to the new firmware is not as easy as just uploading the new file to the ecu, thinds will need reprogramining etc. Do you think there is any other way around this. Ie, link making the option work? When I purchaced the ecu I was told that this function opperated.

Kind Regards

Hi Tim if its working on the G2 and G3 plus there is no reason it shouldn't work on the LEM G3

Can you post or email the MAP you have?

Thanks for the quick reply, I have included the pcl file for your examination. It is a wierd one about the gp pressure thing, seems it is almost working, but just doesnt show in the run time values. I would love to get this corrected, as I feel measureing the oil pressure is a very important feature, plus I have already purchaced and installed a 0-5 v sensor to utilise this feature. The pyro setting doesnt seem to work either, although I dont care about that as im not going to use that feature.

Also, I feel that my Accel enrichment may be wrong, I have logged the reading from the wideband sensor against rpm, and found if I 'blip'  the throttle, the air fuel ratio seems to go lean, (for a short period of time, around a quater of a second or so)  could you have a look also at the accel enrichment table, and see if its in the ball park. I feel i may need to increase the clamp table, and or the sens setting. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

One more thing while im writing. The car also takes a fair bit of cranking to get it started from cold ( around 5 seconds continuous) , could offer any advise on using the pre crank prime function, and or modifying the crank enrichment table, once it has fired, it seems to warm up without any issues.

Ps. The engine is a turbocharged 4agze, if that is any help.

Kind regards

Hi Tim

I have done some work on the GP pressure not showing however haven't found a solution yet. I will try to get hold of the original software engineer to see if a fix can be made.

You could use the channel set as 0-5V input and then do you warning based on the correct voltage for a given pressure.

As we are not tuners as such ill I can suggest with the accel is to keep trying different things. One of the dealers might be better able to assist.

For the cold starting adding pre-crank prime will likely make a big difference. Most Toyotas like a lot of fuel for the initial crank.

Thanks for your reply, If you could have a look into the gp pressure thing, it would be great. Thanks for all the advise. I will keep an eye out for any updates, cheers.

Free yourself from the constraints of the factory ECU. Link's G4 Plug-Ins fit discretely inside the original enclosure. Installation is a breeze, no alteration of the factory wiring loom required. An XS connector provides additional inputs and outputs such as oil pressure inputs or anti-lag / logging switches (the number available depends on the application).
