crank trigger g4 xtreme

Posted by t.nollett at April 19. 2012

hi, new to this site and it my first ecu install in my project build, i need to sort out the crank trigger, at the moment im using a 36-1 trigger wheel, does the ecu trigger on the rising edge on the first tooth it sees after the missing tooth, the cam trigger is a single tooth both using a Reluctor sensor.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

A 36-1 crank trigger setup will work well. The ECU will trigger on the falling edge of the first tooth after the missing tooth.

For your cam make sure you set trig 2 sync mode set to 'Cam Pulse 1x'.

What sort of engine are you running?

Scott.

the engines quite a big build, a quick spec would be an sr20det with darton liners bored and stroked with a mazworx crank to just under 2,4l. mazworx 1/2" head stud conversion, sr2oVE head conversion, ported and valve seats blended, N1 cams, pauter X-beam rods, main bearing carriers oil slots added for GTIR bearings, 19mm big end bearings, maqzworx dry-sump conversion, mazworx intake plenum, PWR charge-cooler plus loads of other bits done, link to the build below, all other fabrication done by me and my trusty tig set

if your bored, engine build http://www.sxoc.com/vbb/showthread.php?442532-mega-sr20det-engine-build/page7&highlight=ex-ctr

next question, i have AEM pencil coils but have read that the AEM cdi unit is not very good and prone to failure so was looking at going with a M&W cdi unit which will cost £600, is there a cheaper option that will do the job or should i go with the M&W unit

Good morning,

It looks like you've put a lot of work into your build!

For CDI we recommend M&W because they are known to be a quality unit. Unfortunately they are pricey.

Cheers,

Scott.

Plug-In

Free yourself from the constraints of the factory ECU. Link's G4 Plug-Ins fit discretely inside the original enclosure. Installation is a breeze, no alteration of the factory wiring loom required. An XS connector provides additional inputs and outputs such as oil pressure inputs or anti-lag / logging switches (the number available depends on the application).
